How the EA tax works on the Transfer Market

Every card you sell on the Transfer Market loses 5% to EA. It sounds small, but it decides whether a trade makes coins or quietly loses them.

Who pays and how much

The seller pays. When your card sells, EA keeps 5% of the sale price and you receive the rest. The buyer pays the full price. The amount you receive is rounded down to a whole coin: a card sold for 9,300 leaves you 8,835, because 5% of 9,300 is 465.

The tax is the same whether the card sold through Buy Now or at the end of an auction. Quick selling a card is not a sale on the market, so there is no tax, but you only get the card’s fixed quick sell value.

Profit is always after tax

The only profit that counts is what lands in your coins: sale price minus 5%, minus what you paid. Buy a card for 8,400 and list it at 9,300, and the profit is 435, not 900.

The break-even price

To get your coins back you need to sell for at least your buy price divided by 0.95, which is about 5.3% more than you paid. On top of that, the Transfer Market only accepts prices on its fixed steps, so the real break-even is the next valid step above that number.

50,00053,00050,350
100,000106,000100,700

Anything below these prices is a loss, even if it looks higher than what you paid.

The price steps

Prices move in steps that get bigger as the price grows. This is why a 1,000 coin card cannot be listed at 1,050: above 1,000 the step is 100.

  • Under 1,000: steps of 50
  • 1,000 to 10,000: steps of 100
  • 10,000 to 50,000: steps of 250
  • 50,000 to 100,000: steps of 500
  • 100,000 and up: steps of 1,000

The lowest Buy Now price is 200 and the highest is 15,000,000.

Check a trade before you make it

The tax calculator does this for any buy and sell price: it snaps the sell price to a valid step, shows the tax, what you receive and your profit, and tells you the lowest price that doesn’t lose coins.

EasySnipeFut works every price out after tax too. In Auto trade it sets your max buy price from the card’s real lowest price and your profit target, so a buy always leaves room for the 5%.
